Bold, Earthy Coffee from Sumatra's Legendary Highlands
Experience the distinctive character of Sumatran coffee from the renowned Aceh region near Lake Takengon. This medium roast single origin showcases the unique Giling Basah (wet-hulling) process that creates the bold, earthy, full-bodied profile Sumatra is famous for worldwide.
Origin Story:
Grown by the Koperasi Baitul Qiradh Baburrayyan (KBQB) cooperative in the Aceh highlands at elevations between 1,100-1,600 meters, these beans benefit from Sumatra's ideal coffee-growing conditions: rich volcanic soils, tropical climate, and the traditional wet-hulling process that's been used for generations. This unique processing method creates the syrupy body and complex earthy flavors that make Sumatran coffee instantly recognizable.
The Giling Basah Process:
Unlike standard washed or natural processing, Giling Basah (wet-hulling) removes the parchment layer while the beans are still moist, creating Sumatra's signature deep, earthy character and heavy body. This traditional Indonesian method produces a coffee unlike any other origin.
Tasting Notes:
Dark chocolate, dried fruit, earthy complexity - with a syrupy, full body and long, lingering finish. Medium acidity balanced by rich depth and herbal undertones that define classic Sumatran coffee.
